    Hello all!

My son-in-law has the car, I have the tools and experience. I’m on a LOT of other forums as Dan_in_WA.

While I’m new to this forum, I work on pretty much everything since I’m the family mechanic and general handyman.

I found 2 sets of factory service manuals for this car on eBay, dirt cheap. The car has been run hard, my SIL bought it used and it has needed some help.

So far, I’ve coached him through replacing the P/S pump and lines, the front passenger door window motor, and fixing a pin hole leak in the fuel line at the engine using a NAPA splice kit. And we (he) replaced the starter motor.

This all started with the fuel leak. He had it towed to a shop, where they quoted $2500 to $3500 to replace the fuel lines, and power steering pump and lines. Best case, Kelley Blue Book says the car is worth $2368! (&#128169 Plus the car would sit at least 3 weeks before the shop could get to it.

The next project is replacing the Bypass Valve Actuator at the supercharger. The top broke where the diaphragm is located, resulting in a big vacuum leak and the SES light coming on. That was fun to find in freezing weather, over the Christmas holiday! Anyone know where to find a Kent Moore J39363 tool?

Quick copy and paste found this in Google.

Somehow these cars are worth fighting for. I keep working on mine lol.

I have a 97 also. It's a Frankenstein with parts taken from 98 to 05 to compensate for the failures of the 97 model year

Thanks for the reply, wowitsfast. The kit didn’t have the J-39363 tool, but you gave me the idea that it may be part of another kit.

Yeah, I told my SIL that if he ever decides to sell it I want first dibs!

I found a GM OEM replacement, and when it arrived the J-39363 tool was included in the box.

Bet I wouldn’t have got it if I’d bought a Chinese knock off!

As it turns out, the J39363 tool is included in the box with the new GM Bypass Valve Actuator.
