Your RPO codes should tell you what motor, trans, suspension package etc etc etc, the VIN will mainly be for year and where it was made.

There are no tags on the tranmission to tell what gear ratio it has but the HD transmission have a different diff cover than the non hd transmission. I can't find the picture of the difference at the moment but you can look up both transmissions on the web and see the difference. (the diff cover in where the passenger side axle goes in).

Also if you have paddle shifter buttons on behind the steering wheel, it's a Comp-G with 3.29's. Highway revs at 70mph is roughly 2200 aswell compared to the 2.93's that are 1800-1900ish.

Hmmm? Do they still put build sheet in the bottom of the drivers seat? I wonder. All I have is the window sticker showing standard and optional equip. No codes on them.
    Standard:
    Supercharged 3800 v6, 260 hp
    4-spd hd auto transmission
    Magnasteer I var pwr steering
    Ride and handling suspension (wtf???)
    Options:
    GT performance package
    -Stabilitrak sport
    -Tapshift
    -Head-up display
    -Magnasteer II power steering

It has TapShift and at 110 km/h (68 mph for those that don't speak Canuckanese) the rpm is just thin blonde one under 2000.
I'm probably going to have to find a time when the local GM parts guy isn't so busy and quiz them a bunch. This sounds like a parts ordering nightmare in the works.
