Been wanting to do some pillar gauges on my gtp. Before anyone tells me to run an aeroforce I am going to say that I'm not spending a bunch of money on one gauge no matter how much it does. The car is relatively stock and won't have many more mods in its future if any at all, so an aeroforce is kind of pointless. Just want to know where to hook an oil pressure gauge to and how hard it is to do so. Thanks! And I just realized this is the wrong section, but oh well lol.

I'm also pretty sure that the factory oil pressure sensor is a good/not good sensor, so an Aeroforce wouldn't really work. I could be wrong.

oil pressure is easy, take the stock sensor out of the housing by the oil filter, then put the new sending unit for the pressure gauge in the same location, run the wire from it to the gauge. ( route the wire away fron any heat source) dont get a mechanical one with the plastic tube, they leak. get a full electronic gauge.

It's easier to do if you do it when changing oil... Drop oil from engine and replace stock sensor as mentioned with the gauge sending unit. This way you don't have to worry about spilling oil when changing unit. Just a suggestion : )

You could also try an oil sandwich plate.

So what do you do with the factory sensor? Doesnt the pcm need that signal to keep the light happy?

you can install a T pipe that goes into the oil pressure sensor hole, then put the oem sensor on one side and the gauge sensor on the other. or ditch the stock one all together.

mine blew out 3 times so far so i pluged the hole and tossed it, so its unplugged, and no light or anything in well over 2 years now.

Is this the grommet that people use to route the wires through the firewall? I read there was one on the driver side and one on the passenger. This one is in the passenger footwell

thats the one. i dont have one on the driver side for sure.

i drilled a hole under the windshield, took the pass side cowl off and deep under the windshield i drilled for a amp wire. it dropped right out the bottom.

if its for a oil pressure wire you can stuff it through a grommet on the driver side firewall.

I've been putting this off cause it's so cold out and I dont feel like being out in the garage more than I have to.

The grommet on the floor there is pretty tight, how do you fit wires through it? Put a new hole through it, or cut the hole bigger maybe?
Any clue where it comes out in the engine bay? I cant see it anywhere. It feels like the axle or the steering rack might be right in the way.

Where is a grommet on the driver side firewall? I read there was one directly under the master cylinder where the clutch cylinder goes on stick cars that's just empty on automatics, but I cant see it. It looks like there might be one on the side... any idea where that one comes out in the cabin or what I need to do to get to it?

Just looking for some answers so I dont stupidly tear stuff apart I dont need to in the cold.

i also blew that rubber block off. looked to tight under the car, and the wire routing looked like it would be a head ache.

look around on the d/s fire wall theres rubber grommets there already.

i drilled a hole under the windshield, took the pass side cowl off and under the the window, i drilled a hole, fed my amp wire through the hole and it came out the pass side to the floor like it was made to.

that worked for my amp. the oil pressure sender is real close to that area. so food for thought.

Get yourself a wire insertion tool. With it you can easily get a wire through any grommet.
