So any 99+ GT will work for me as long theres no five. My codes say bad right rear circuit and bad circuit 2 for ebcm and my abs, Trac control and brake light are on.

I replaced my EBCM with one from an 02 Grand Prix, the car wouldn't start unless I held it in run for a couple seconds. Once started the lights brake/Trac/abs light would stay on but there were no ABS codes. There was codes for U0100 and U0300. I put the old EBCM and it starts fine now.

I don't see any 5's in the replacement EBCM, what could be wrong?

I don't know what could be wrong. I guess if the replacement one isn't working, I'd just send the stock one in for repair. Make sure you can start the car in the meantime.

Also, cheapabs.com says you can run without the module even being on the car. I covered that area on mine and didn't drive it.

So it's getting weirder. I took my EBCM off and sprayed it with brakleen along with the connectors, now I only have the Service ABS and Trac Control light on and the only code is C0050. Also, I can now clear codes on the EBCM,before I could only read and got an error when trying to clear them. But when I do, the Service Brake comes on for a second then goes off, just leaving ABS and Trac control lights on.

Should I check the wiring before ordering a new EBCM?

EDIT: The service brake comes on at red lights. Maybe a small leak even know the fluid levels don't change and I don't see anything.

I'd look at a you pull it for a new module same year / model. I replaced mine 99 with a 98 EBCM and all the lights went away, magnasteer came back and I had cruise control again. $20

Got a new Module from an 04+. The car starts fine with it and when I scan it I get no codes. But when I try to clear codes it says No communication to the EBCM(for either ebcm I have). What should I check now? Wiring? Whatever ground it is?

Also, this new EBCM has 2 metal "pins" on the inside center, and my old one didn't. Maybe the donor car had MagnaSteer and mine doesn't. Would that affect this?

Are you trying to get/clear ABS codes? Need a special reader for that on these cars. I took mine in before I sent the module off. It was just under $40 to have it plugged in.

..that module repair would've been back to you weeks ago.

If it's a different model that's your problem. I know for a fact my GTP and SE were different. The GTP had more springs as well. Picture?

The only code I can find now is U1040, loss of class 2 communications with EBCM. I'm checking the wiring now and have cleaned the two grounds on the transmission, are there any other grounds I should clean before sending my EBCM in to Module Master or CheapABS?

I'll try to get a comparison picture between my two ebcm later

Not sure about the newer ebcm's, but as far as 98-03 you shouldn't have to have anything reprogrammed as long as you don't grab the gtp one and try to use it in a gt, or use a 97 in anything but.

My scan tool insisted that I had a bad ebcm, but after replacing the hub twice, the ebcm once, and trying to replace some of the wire, I ended up replacing all the wire, connector, and the main culprit ended up being corroded connector pins in the abs plug itself causing the error. The wires "tested fine" before with resistance and continuity, but yet, once replaced, the wires were black for about a foot when I opened it up! Basically, you never know on our cars....

I replaced a 2007 base model Grand Prix EBCM from a $20 junk yard same year part and it worked with no reprogramming. Code was a c0090

Interesting info I found that I'd like to pass along about the C0090 ABS code says module must be replaced for this code:

    A L L Diagnostic Trouble Codes ( DTC ): C Code Charts
    C0090
    DTC C0060-CO095
    Circuit Description
The inlet and outlet valve solenoid circuits are supplied with battery power when the ignition is in the ON position. The EBCM controls the valve
functions by grounding the circuit when necessary.
    Conditions for Running the DTC
^ The DTC can set anytime the ignition switch is in the ON position.
^ The DTC can set when the vehicle speed is greater then 6 km/h (4 mph) and the brake pedal is not applied.
^ The DTC can set when the vehicle speed is greater then 15 km/h (9 mph) and the brake pedal is applied.
    Conditions for Setting the DTC
The DTC will set when the EBCM detects one of the following internal to the EBCM only:
^ An open in the solenoid coil or circuit.
^ A short to ground in the solenoid coil or circuit.
^ A short to voltage in the solenoid coil or circuit.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
It equipped, the following actions occur:
^ A malfunction DTC is stored.
    ^ ABS/TCS is disabled.
^ The ABS/TCS indicators are turned on.
    Conditions for Clearing the DTC
^ The condition for the DTC is no longer present and you used the scan tool Clear DTC function.
^ The EBCM automatically clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles.
    Diagnostic Aids
The solenoid valve circuit and the solenoid coil are internal to the EBCM. No part of the solenoid circuit is diagnosable external to the EBCM. The
DTC sets when there is a malfunction in the solenoid circuit internal to the EBCM only.
    Test Description
The numbers below refer to step numbers on the Diagnostic Table.
    2. This step determines if the DTC is current.
