Ive had a few requests awhile back on how to paint intakes, dogbones and so on. So ive taken many pics so I can show how to turn a ugly piece of PVC pipe

and make a nice looking intake.

First take you piece of PVC and clean it very well. Greased Lightning, 409 (I used carb cleaner on this project). After you clean it good, then wash off the cleaner and dry the PVC off. Make sure there is no water left on it.
Then take some 800 grit sandpaper, sand the entire outside of the PVC till you see a film of dust appear on the pipe. Take the pipe and wash it off, making sure all the dust and dirt is off the pipe.

When your done with this you'll be tired of cleaning lol. Once the pipe is fully clean, its time to paint. Depending on thetype of paint you may have to usea base coat of paint. I used the Metalcast red which needed a base coat to make it look right.

Take the can of spray paint and shake it for a full minute or 2. Start from the top of the pipe and sweep up and down slow but not at a creep. Make 2 passes. Keep doing this all the way around the pipe. Let the paint dry for 2 mins. Repeat the process 3 more times. If you need to do a base coat for your type of paint, then the same steps but only do enough to cover the pipe.

Let the paint dry for at least 30 mins to a hour before handleing it. If not then youll see what your fingerprints look like. Check for any light spots, if you see any then apply a light coat to cover up the light spot.

Take the pipe install into the engine bay.

    Stand back and smile!

This is the one I did on my 99 GTP.

    Any questions....feel free to ask!
