So my temptation got the best of me and I wanted to try to do a burnout in my GTP. I locked the e-brake and turned TCC off and punched it. The tires spun at will for about a second and then the car shut down. Is this part of TCC? Or am i just missing something?

That was my first thought. But it does it even when I shift down into first. It's not extremely important but Id like to burn my baldies off before I get new ones lol

Fair warning, you may cause transmission damage! That being said... try holding the throttle wide open with it in park. See how it bounces around 4K RPM? Might be that safety feature, where if throttle is at WOT but the computer sees no load, she limits RPM. I don't know exactly how that works. But generally speaking, you have to ease into the gas for a long smoky with a stock GTP. Mine anyway. It usually yeah smokes em good but when it grabs it hooks and whoa man is it tough on the differential.

i just floor it from a dead stop and they smoke up lol

truth is, ive yet to do a full balls to the wall burn out. burn outs kill trannys. so i avoid them. ive smoked the tires with less then full throttle many times tho. ( pretty much unexpected burn outs)

Hell i smoked the tires a little from about 15 mph today. Had to punch it to beat some truck trying to get in front of me.

IF you have to do anything other than step on it to burn out, then your slow car doesn't need to burn out.

Well. I use 2nd on the shifter... For an insane smoke but you may also have stock abuse settings in the tune. Have to tried pulling the ABS fuse ? It's been way too long since my car was bone stock but I think that's how we did it

Just fyi it will shift into second even if left in first that and most likely torque management is stopping you

im guessing op is wanting to buy a new tranny. really why would you want to do a burn out? it costs money lots of money your tranny pops you need new tires and other components. also if it just stopped then it went into a higher gear. you would want to keep it in first.
im a cookie again yay me

Honestly a burn out doesnt really kill the trans, it's not a power downshift type of abuse.

You'd have to be sitting there roasting them for awhile for the trans to get really hot from the converter.

Tossing it in 1st from a dead stop also doesnt harm anything either, scotty should read better as he didnt say while moving.

Roll into the throttle instead of just mashing it, it "should" rip em loose without a issue.

It's the sudden engagement when the spinning tire hooks that's bad. You should just roll out of it

An Overkill tune made a noticeable difference in how long I could spin/smoke my tires.

I wouldn't recommend it, but this was about 11 years ago. Make sure the AC is off since it will get sucked inside.

Likely torque management like Jake said. If you want to test that ... unplug a front wheel speed sensor and rip them up. It can't stop what it can't see.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Lol hey. I was just curious. I don't plan on beating my car but I tried it once to see if it would smoke them and it did that. So I was just curious to see what the science was behind it.
