Does getting straight pipes throw back any error codes that may prevent the car from passing emissions?

IF you removed the cat converter, yes.

Otherwise removing the just the mufflers, no. It will sound like pure butthole though, you will hate the sound unless you like to sound like a honda with a fart cannon on it.

So people who remove their cat, how do they get around tripping a code?

    I use an 02 emulator. On a 99 model. But I use a hi-flow cat.
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

You can turn off the check engine light with a tuning software, 97-00 is a simple set to no report for the cat code P0420 and 01-03+ cars can try the non fouler trick aswell as turning off the code to stop the cat diag test from going on. I think DHP tuners can turn it off though. Or the o2 emulator for 97-00 cars.

is yours a v8? or v6? either one you'll get pulled over for being to loud, then your ears will bleed after a week, or less. its horrid sounding in real life.

last guy i said this to was all taken back and pissed that id suggest he'd get a ticket even, then guess what? he got a ticket, then his ears hurt, mufflers back on.........

Well since it's a V8 it will sound good at idle and might be a little loud while driving but the only biggest thing you might not like is when it switches in and out of the DoD. Going down into V4 mode can make it sound bad but that is going to be up to you.

I'll check him out but don't like the idea of it coming from the sides of the car.

If you want to go straight pipes I would do the DOD elimination mod. When that kicks in its supposed to sound kinda like a helicopter from what I have heard.
If it was me, I would either get some Flowmaster 40 series mufflers put in place of the stockers, or put a glass pack in. It might still sound weird when the DOD kicks in and out though.

Whoever edited that video did a very very bad job, blur the drivers tail light instead of the plate? He was a few frames behind on blurring out peoples faces quite a few times, then gave up later on in the vid lol.

Will this cause any error codes? Any other tips or helpful advice (besides don't do it) would be appreciated. Thanks for answering my other 2 questions DeathPunch.

As long as whatever it is you are taking out or replacing is after the cat you will never throw a code because there are not any sensors after the post cat O2.
