Right before my last day of work I had a mechanic look at why my driver side rear door never locked unlocked. He tore it apart and found out it was actuator. He thought it was going to be about 50 bucks to replace. Our parts guy ordered the wrong part. So that 50$ turned into 200$ from the dealership... So I said f that. I watched how he put it all back together and I'm on my way to the junk yard today. Anyone ever replace one before?

I took apart my Dr door panel this weekend to see what the deal was with my lock and it looks like a PITA to get to wear gloves for sure I couldn't really see much but it almost looked like it was attached to the latch assembly as well. I didn't even see any other hardware so I am hoping that there are studs on the inside. I am not sure about the rear door but I have 3 that seem to be worn out. I am making a trip this weekend too for the same thing, hopefully some one will chime in with a better answer.

Alright I just got back from the junk yard and it's not hard at all. Super easy. You need a t30 torx bit (let me double check that exact size)
    1.take door panel off.
    2.peel back plastic.
3.take off the three bolts that are in the door jam holding on the actuator
4.pull the actuator out, trying your best to not bend the metal rods for the pin and the door lock.
    5.Remove the metal rods.
    6.take off electrical clip.
    7. I payed 4.37 for the part compared to the 200

Win in my eyes. I'm going to put the new one in tonight

i could use a new one for my back pass door, all it did was click so i un plugged it. iirc it was up near the hinge in the door, not a easy area to get to.
