First off, what? Drill a hole in the piping and stick it in there. Done. I've never heard of anyone just leaving it in the engine bay and putting a "Mini Filter" on it. And, if we are getting technical, it's really called an "IAT Sensor."
I have no idea why you are getting so anal hurt over Scotty. He's quite a knowledgeable guy on this forum. No one is arguing that nobody has ever ran a VC Breather on a 3800. Calm down, chump.
To clarify things... there's a few reasons why people use a Valve Cover Breather on these cars.
1: Gen V Swap and was too lazy to create a functional PCV.
2: Turbo
3: Someone running an intercooler without a PCV hole in the core and once again, was to lazy to create a functional PCV.
