Good Morning,
I've done quite a bit of searching but couldn't come up with an answer. I'm hoping you guys can help me out.
2005 GP GT
Dual zone auto climate control
I'm not sure it matters but its been very cold here lately, even for WI. Temps have been in the single digits down to the negative teens. In the last few days my AC/Heat blower fan has started to "act up". Here are the issues that I have noticed to date.
1) Inconsistent fan noise. Fan sounds like it blows harder then softer intermittently with no apparent pattern. It did not always do this.
2) Fan noise on high seems to be lower than it was before and again, not stable.
3) On at least one occasion, the climate control system did not turn on to warm the car. (Car was already warm from driving. I shut down the car to enter a store and when I came out and restarted, I had no fan. Fan stayed off until I shut down the car approx. 5min later.)
4) Key on, engine off: no blower fan at all. (I only tried this once so I don't know whether this is an intermittent issue or if it happens all the time)
5) Probably unrelated but I am using some coolant. I refilled last night and the problem remains. My plan is to address this when the weather cooperates.
I've read suggestions ranging from resistors to entire climate control system replacement so I'm hoping to narrow things down a bit. I'd hate for my climate control system to shut down now in the dead of winter. If anyone has any ideas or information as to what my problem is, I'd really appreciate the help.
Thanks in advance,
rg
*****Afternoon edit: Today I started my warm car and had the same "no fan" condition listed in #3 above. I smacked the driver's side of the center console near the climate control and the fan kicked in. Maybe this will help in diagnosing the problem.
Thanks again,
