So I was on my way home tonight just minding my own business. Its real cold (-6 is what my rear view mirror was telling me) and I was going about 35. Then randomly my car just dies. No sputtering or anything. The battery light and oil light came on. I came to a stop, then restarted the car and it fired up right away. Drove it for a little longer and it drove just fine. 15 minutes later, it dies again the same way. Do the same procedure and then 25 seconds after that it did it again. I finally got home 5 minutes later. Anyone have any ideas? No codes are present at the moment. I had P0134 pop up once in awhile and P0137. A new o2 is on the way but I don't really thing thats part of it? Oh and randomly when I have been driving it'll just do a quick jerk when i'm starting to slow down or cruising at around 40. Just a quick jump of about 500 RPM's.

    Thanks

    chris

The 500 rpm sounds like the torque converter locking or unlocking. that's normal

The codes..I didn't look up, who knows.

The stalling.. very likely this is a crank sensor.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

you need a new o2. or the wires melted, or that fuse 21 blew. it powers the maf and o2.

the random stalling does seem like a bad crank sensor, fix the codes first, if it keeps stalling id do the crank sensor.

Awesome thanks guys. I am almost positive that the wires/ o2 is fine. Its a brand new sensor and the wires are routed far away. I did use the zzp o2 extension and a little extension that I created. I will check the fuse 21 deal. The check engine light comes and goes which kind of confuses me. What size is that fuse? I would like to just go under the hood once real quick to change it since its cold.

Dude! Oh my god I was just going to make a thread about this... Mine did the same exact thing this afternoon. The temp was about 7 and windchill at about - 17 and it kept dying after practice today. I went to turn out of school and it just died... It did thst about 5 times and then I turned into a side road close to my house to see if it was still doing it. I gave it some gas and it was ok... I noticed the engine temperature was going up so I figured it had something to do with it being cold.

Representing all the N/A out there. Fastest stock N/A you will ever come across.

I'm going to check out the fuse tomorrow. It didn't happen at all today when i drove it to and from work. About half a year ago my car died at exactly the same spot and same symptoms which was kind of weird... Also randomly at idle from time to time it will just sit there revving and sometimes die out or just sit there struggling.

get it scanned then. there will be a pending code if its not lit when scanned. scan it car running if the light is still on.

I have a scanner I'll pull the codes in a minute. I just put a new fuse in 21. Also changing the rear o2 right now.

Changed the fuse and haven't had a problem. No check engine light yet (2 days). Car hasn't died either. I am still getting some bad gas mileage (13 mpg). I didn't have a chance to get the rear o2 changed.

I'm not sure if my o2 codes are the cause of my car dying or not.
