    Should i use a butt joint for the clamps or a lap joint

    you want band clamps. any of these style will work. for speed daddy headers you need 2, 2.25 and 2, 3 inch clamps.

    I used lap joint clamps. All the pipe joints are flared.

    I always use the middle picture in scotty's post from Frozenboost.com (good quality and cheap with fast shipping usually).
    I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    bills gone for the day, but i know his answer is "NO". he never uses rtv for any part of a header install.

    neither did i. no leaks at all. i used the top pic clamp. 10 bucks at the local parts store each.

    Take a look at the header install thread I typed up. Never RTV exhaust. There's simply no need if you install them properly.
    I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
