I have a '02 GP GT (40th) that I bought back in 2004. At around 100k miles, I started to notice a puddle of power steering fluid after driving the car, located under the driver's side.
I have flushed the PS system about every 2 years and added fresh fluid (NOTE: did not add tranny fluid as many people do)
About 2 times per year, after checking the fluid reservoir, I had to add new fluid to bring the level up to normal.
At the start of this year, miles reached 175k. I have been driving much more and noticed more leakage from the system, so I flushed the PS system once more and added Lucas stop leak PS fluid.
Now, I do not see any more leaks from the system. The fluid level is normal in the reservoir.
Mileage is at 191,000.
This is the original PS rack in the car. I have been told by everyone (I mean everyone) that if I have a fluid leak, then the only fix is to install a new or remanufactured rack.
Anyone ever tried adding Lucas stop leak fluid to their leaking power steering system?
