    Pull the vacuum hose off the fuel pressure regulator and check for fuel in that line. There shouldn't be any, but that's the most common issue that causes a backfire. Typically on an NA too.

    Since you were welding.. did you unhook the battery? If so.. check that. If not.. maybe on the crankshaft/maf
    I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    i unhooked the battery when i welded, i didnt want to risk frying anything haha. I cleaned the positive terminal and hooked it up but ill recheck that. i dont think i would have thought about vacuum line on the fuel pressure reg. I was gonna pull off the maf sensor to see if that needed to be cleaned or replaced. thanks
