01 grand prix gt...3.8L..not super charged...164000 mi...Seems there's another problem...noticed oil running down the side of the oil filter, it was dripping on the ground..not a big puddle yet. What could this be..the filter is tight.

Sometimes debris can get in between the filter and metal oil filter housing. Or the gasket that is on the filter has a crack in it or a small cut and letting oil get by.

Either way, you will have to remove the filter and inspect it or just get a new filter for 3 bucks and top off the oil. It will drain out about half a quart of oil when you unscrew it.

it could be the oil pressure sensor, its located just past the oil filter on the housing, its got a green plug on it.

turn the wheels all the way to the left, then go peek in behind the pass side front wheel to the oil filter, use a flash light if needed, look to see if that green plug is leaking oil from it. if so theres your leak.

Also, who did the oil change last? If it was taken into a shop/quick lube type place, make sure there isn't a double gasket on it (old gasket from previous filter not removed).

if you just had the oil changed its possible that the oil filter fell out of his hand and oil got into the frame and leaked out after the fact. it happened to me last oil change i did myself.

Shaheen? What are Middle Easterners doing running domestic car dealerships?? I thought they were all about Jap cars and German luxury cars.
