I recently replaced brand new Spark plugs & Wires in my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.8 Liter V6 Non Supercharged car. In under 3 weeks my Low Coolant light came on. I opened my hood and noticed a hissing sound coming from a small hose hooked to the Alternator and engine. There appears to be a tiny hole in the hose that is leaking coolant. My Coolant Reservoir is completely empty. My question is this hose part of the spark plug wire or something else, and is it safe to drive without coolant, until I can pick some up. My engine is always very hot when the engine is running more then 5 minutes. Below a few pictures of the hose I am talking about. Any help would be greatly Appreciated

can it be removed ( threaded into the intake manifold) or can you rough it up, dry it well and put some two part epoxy putty on it?

You need to pull off the tensioner/alt bracket thing and replace the elbows with the part # smuts listed. Make sure you remove all of the elbow from the LIM and bracket. You will loose a good amount of coolant so its a good time to flush the system and refill it with green coolant then bleed the cooling system.

Not from NYC, I'm near Buffalo NY, 8hrs difference :P

And just a heads up. I replaced the Coolant elbow 47065hp and the Coolant Reservoir since mine was yucky looking. No leaks and everything seems to work, yet I have another issue.

My engine is getting hotter then normal. I made a check list of things it could be so I have no idea what it is.

    1: is a stuck thermostat.
Just replaced it with my spark plugs so it can't be the thermostat.

2: is a leak in your vehicle's cooling system.

3: is a faulty water pump.

4: is a bad cooling fan. There are two types of fans, electric and mechanical.

Noticed the big ass fan near the radiator is not spinning when the engine is on, don't know if this is normal

    5: is a clogged radiator.
Radiator is hot but not really burning hot

If anyone can help me with this would be awesome

will you just change the elbows already lol they leak, so fix them. end of story. its 12 bucks and a hour of your time tops.

your fans dont turn on till 212 deg's, and turn off when the car is off. to test if they do work turn the a/c on, if the a/c blows cold the fans will come on.

if they dont come on and the a/c sorta works, aka compressor is turning then unplug the temp sensor, if they turn on the temp sensor is bad.

Ac turns on fine, getting cold air Is a different story. Yet kind of lost what the AC has to do with an overheating engine?

the fans are supposed to turn on when the a/c is turned on, its what makes the a/c cold. if they are not coming on its the temp sensor or a relay went bad, you can swap the relays around in the fuse box under the hood to see if they start to work or not.
