I have a1999 Grand Prix GT and I have a mysterious wire coming out of my fuse box. It looks like a wire for an amp but as far as I know I don't have an amp. Looking towards your suggestions. Thanks

Looks to be for an aftermarket amp. Previous owner may have had a system installed and only removed the amp and sub but left the wiring.

Thats what the owner before me did. She had a system in the car and had to dump it so she tore it out and now I have to piece it back together again.

Where would look for an amp at? Would I notice through the stereo if there was an aftermarket amp?

There isn't one in there. I tried putting a fuse in it a while ago and I didn't notice any difference in the sound.

Do you have any idea where the wire would go to? Do you have to have an aftermarket head unit to use an amp?

It probably goes in the trunk, like that place where everyone puts their subs in.

How about following the wire to see where it goes?
If I had to guess I'd say it goes through one of the holes in the firewall then down under the carpet below the dash then back through to the trunk under the door sill trim. Pull up the carpet in either corner directly behind the rear seat, you may find the end of it there.

It does go through the firewall. That's as far as I have followed it
