You are correct. You can't manually program the remotes for these Grand Prix cars. They have to be reprogrammed by a locksmith, dealer or somebody that has one of those expensive programmers.Originally Posted by Below Average Joe
That being said. I have replaced batteries in these remotes before and that didn't cause a need to reprogram. Also the batteries were in good shape and they just stopped working on my main remote all at once. The old remote didn't work so I then tried to replace the batteries, but I figured it wasn't the batteries. The didn't slowly get weaker and then stop working, they just stopped working.
