Lately i've noticed the door on my GTP has been sagging a little. Today its sagging a little bit enough to catch the fender on a corner just a little. Its enough to take some action now before I start ruining a major area of paint or bend a fender/door.
I can pulled up and down on my drivers door a good bit, so I know the bushings in the hinge must be shot. My passenger door has 0 play at all, then again its never used and thats to be expected. From looking at the hinges they don't look rebuildable (a pin and bushing kit). It looks like the only way to cure this problem is to replace both hinge assemblies on the door. Is this exactly what I need to do? Anyone do this before? I'm assuming the only good way to do this is pull the front fender. I see no other way otherwise. Anyone know anything?
I kinda know of one other way, but I donno if it would be half assing it or not, IMO it probably is. Body shops have a tool to conect to your door latch and to the stricker plate. The tool has a handle on it and you apply pressure to bend up the door into the desired postion. Any body guys familiar with this and have any input?
The car is a 2-door and it has 160,000+ on it. Hopefully some higher mileage guys have input and can help me out here. There are not too many of us out there.
