Can I pull the computer codes on my wife's 2008 Grand Prix like I do on my 2000 Corvette without using an external reader?

bet hes talking about the flashing CEL. I do know that GM had a program for the newer cars that told you when you need service but have no clue if its still around or not.

2000 Corvette all you do is hold the "Options" button and press the "Fuel" button 4 times and the drivers readout will display all the codes, current and historical until you clear them....You don't need a reader.....It's a standard feature
