Hi all...I have tried searching...and have had no luck.

When I bought my 2000 GTP..I assumed the HUD did not work, and I was ok with that. The other night driving home, I noticed two green lines on my windshield. I know that my HUD controls work, I can hear the motor working when I attempt to move it. I noticed that when I move the hud..the green lines kinda go side to side..not up and down...I know I've heard of the "Spring fix" on 04s...not sure if this would be a similar issue? Any input would be appreciated

    sounds like the spring thing.
Put your head down towards your knees and look up at the windhield, you should be able to catch a glimpse of the display.

Sorry man, I boned up. Didn't think before I posted, that was for the 2004+..duh. Your problem would probably be more like this.

Ok...not to question your judgment here..but would it be a dimming problem if it looks like something is over top of the display(kind of like the mirror fell or something)?

I'd say pop the trim and pull it out. Post pics if you have questions of what looks out of place. It does sound like you don't have the usual dim issue, but something else.

Like the 04 issue...except it's not quite the same in the 97-03's.

Ok..so here's how it works. There's a little display that projects onto the mirror..from there it bounces up to the window. The postion is controlled by the mirror moving. Plug it back in and see if the control moves the mirror smoothly and if you can see the little display light up. Your mirror looks pretty dirty too.

One step ahead of ya on that one bill..the motor moves...but the mirror does not. I have a video that I just uploaded...kinda hard to see but if you look at the bottom of the video.you'll see what I mean..the mirror is stationary but the motor moves. Also the display is working I have a pic of that too lol

Ok..so you have a mirror issue. Which I couldn't tell anything form the vid.. but look it over and see if it makes any sense why it's not moving.

Is that piece at the far end that moves broken? I see it..and I think..that's the key to your issue

I was just thinking the same thing Bill, it looks as though there is a piece that should go into a little spot to the right of the motor, when I look at the mirror, there is a piece in addition to the one that goes into the grove, it looks broken..I did not take a picture although I should have. It seems logical to me that if that was still connected, it would move. I would think that it would be best to pick up a "new" hud unit? I could glue the pieces back together, but there is no guarantee that it would hold.

For the cost that the yards around here charge for one, I'd get another from a yard.
