So I just bought a ZZP 3" DP and I'm planning on installing it myself when it arrives. My question is, if the bolts are so rusted that there not reusable, what kind do I need to pick up? And what do I need if the studs are so rusted that there not reusable? Thanks

The bolts to the manifold should come off the ones to the exhaust usually need cut off and drilled out and new bolts used. I used bolts i had laying around the garage. Soak them in pb blaster everyday when the engine is cool until the day you do it. That should help

hopefully there not as rusted as my 97 gtp was, I put enough torque on the bolt to bend and break the flange on the catback side

Ok so I have used PB on the bolts for the past few days, I will be installing my DP in the next couple days, I just want to make sure what kind of bolts they are since I haven't taken a good look at them since there's rust built up that I have to brush off. Are they a single bolt threaded right in or is it a bolt with a nut on the end?

Nuts either 13 or 15mm

I think they start out as 15's and rust their way down to 14's or 13's.

Well its defiantly a no go for me to do it. I dont have much room to manuver underneath and there rusted on there pretty good. If anyone could do it for me in the MKE area, I'll give em $75

I put it on ramps I bought at menards and it was still way too low to get any good leverage on there. My jack didnt even go high enough on the front to jack it higher. And another problem is on the sides where the jack points are, is really rusted so I'm afraid of trying to jack it there because it might just bend or break apart.

What I do for example when I have to do something on the Silverado. I grab some tiles or cinder block etc and I place the cinder block underneath the jack so I can jack the truck up high enough to be able to put jack stands underneath it. Jack it up on the subframe and make sure that the cinder blocks are in a position where they don't move and then make sure the car is supported by jack stands and then lower the jack etc.

Well idk if its possible from the front cuz it seems like it would have to be jacked really high in order to get decent leverage. If its fron the side, it seems like it might tip over lol so i think it would be 100 times easier on a lift. unless someone could give me an example.

I run mine up on ramps before and it's kinda tight. I usually use my jack to get it high enough to get them off.

The way I installed my headers was like this old fit a jack underneath the subframe because hellaflush. So instead of drive the car on 2 small tiles that I had in the yard. Have me enough height to slid the jack under the subframe. I jacked it as high as it could go. Then put jack stands underneath the subframe and removed the jack. Removed the dogbones.Then I unbolted the downpipe to resonator and the downpipe is now dangling slightly enough where I can slid a extensions and breaker bar enough to loosen the downpipe bolts.

I'll try it again, I do have two jacks, so I might put one in front and one in back to see if that helps. Only thing is, I only have 2 jack stands.

I drove the front of my car up onto ramps then jacked up the back of the car onto jack stands. I also had to get new bolts for the flange closest to the rez.

Ya I tried it again and was able to get under there easier, but my nuts are shot lol they wouldnt budge after PB and a torch so they will probly have to be cut out. Pain in the ass

I had to take it in to get installed. The flange on the res was too rusted to use the bolt so he had to make a new flange for me. Defiantly a good mod to have tho. Much better response. Glad to have that U bend off.
