not sure if this is exactly the right forum, but... i have a 97 gtp. it has no resonator or catalytic converter. i had some vmax mufflers put on at muffler man, and they sound really good at idle, and while revving, just parked. but when i'm driving, it resonates really loudly and annoying at about 2,000 rpm. i'm trying to figure out if it's the no resonator, or no catalytic converter.

Lack of a resonator. Either swap out mufflers that can handle the drone, or put the resonator back on.

You'll lose a little volume. The resonator is pass-through, so it won't affect power.

The resonator is much to cut down on loudness, right?

The resonator is designed to cancel out frequencies that drone in the cabin, keeping it more comfortable for passengers. It will lower the exterior volume a little.
