Car is a 2006 GPGT and noticed this in February, it hasn't got better or worse but now is really bugging me.. Its a slight ticktickticktick almost sounds like a lifter tick, but not as loud.. Ive seen some people suggest valve lash, spun bearing, seal, Crack in HG etc, but we are going to start small first.. Could it be something like an exhaust leak somewhere? Is there some kind of donut gasket off the mani??

I would take a vid but you would never hear it over the wind noise... But when I get a chance I will go put it in drive and hold the brake to get a load on the motor and see if I can get a sound out of it

But does anyone have any ideas??

take the belt off fire it up for a minute, see if the sound is gone. dont drive it with belt, it will over heat, this is to see if its the pulleys.

once the belt is off spin all the pulleys, make sure they are smooth rolling. test the water pump to by pushing one side and pulling the other of the pulley, if it moves, its going bad.

Thanks man, Actually just did that last week, bad squeeking/ticking, .. Waterpump was shot... So it actually has a new pump and belts, and the rest of the pulleys are good

could be a exhaust leak, when you first start the car up in the morning, or after its good and cold. start it up, and feel around with your hand if theres a leak, you'll feel the air hit your hand. you have limited time doing this as the manifolds heat up pretty fast.

you could, but you need to follow the directions on the can and dump one 1/3 into a vac line, then shut the car off for 15 minutes, then fire it up. then it should smoke. and of course if theres a leak, the smoke should be seen under the hood or along the exhaust pipes out the back.

I tried the seafoam trick to find a leak in my exhaust. Didn't see any smoke from the exhaust. Tomorrow (while it's already up on blocks) I'll start it up and feel with my hand around the exhaust, starting with the manifolds.

I noticed that on my 04 Comp-G, after I installed my CAI the motor began having a slight tick/clattering upon acceleration. Before it was just so ****ing quiet. Can't make the sound in park either.
(Only noticed it on that hotter day where I rolled with windows down for once since a while.)

Figure it could be similar for the OP, these motors are just such big noise machines.

Yea Im hoping its just a small leak somewhere.. Exactly how do you use the seafoam ? Dump it in the oil,? gas tank? and also how do you get it in the vac line?

Take the big vac line off the brake booster. Engine will studder and die if you don't hold your finger on it. I used a funnel and just kept blocking the hole with my finger as I poured the seafoam into the funnel. Then let the seafoam slowly get sucked in. When you're close to done, pour a lot of seafoam all at once so the engine dies and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then start 'er up (it'll be hard to start it at first). I actually used the whole bottle doing this. Got carried away but it didn't hurt anything. Quite a smokeshow after I let it sit 10 minutes. Anyway, after you let it sit 10 minutes and get it started, look for leaks in the exhaust from the smoke. This didn't work for me though. Sorry for long paragraph, my enter key isn't working for some reason.

Once I put a CAI on my car there was a clicking sound upon acceleration but never happened in park or neutral. I then put the factory air box back in and nothing, no ticking sound. So I just put the CAI back on and said the hell with it.

the stock air box is a muffler too. take it off and run a cone and you hear all sorts of new sounds.
