    trying to remove the shift knob from my 1997 grand prix. Cant get it off. Anybody know how?

    If you look on the front side of the shifter, just above the base of it you will see a little slot. In that slot is a clip you'll have to pry out with a flat blade screw driver. Once that is out the shift knob should pull right off.

    If you have performance shift, there may be a connector in there you have to work around too and be careful of.

    The writeup is for replacing the shifter boot, so just ignore the steps that don't apply to what you're doing.
