I need to reseal my spoiler. Everytime it rains water seeps into my spoiler and when i lift my trunk the water poures out of the very top where the emergency release lever is. What can i use to stop water from getting in my trunk?

I made new gaskets for my 04 with tool box drawer liner from Menards and black rtv

I use 3M urethane sealer. It will NEVER leak again...it won't ever come off again though either. LOL

You can use little rubber o-rings that you put in garden hoses to lift up the spoiler very slighlty, then seal each one with a sealant. Water will run right under the spoiler then.

I think someone may have done a write up on it.

I hear ya all on that theory and gave it some thought...I took my spoiler off to tint the third brake light and noticed the original gaskets were no longer conformed..I was concerned about snow/ice/salt mixture in winter being able to get under it and freezing..
Since getting a new gasket for a SPO would have been nearly impossible I just banged the head about similar gasket material..The best choice for the buck was the black rubber, sticky foam tool-box drawer liner..actually it seemed to be better gasket like than the original gasket... a huge ass roll only cost $5

I traced the spots out,held them in place with rtv and let sit over night. Before I put it back on I drew around the bolt holes with rtv and then placed the spoiler.

Nice and tight with just enough cushion.

Someone did, a long time ago. Since we have gone through a couple changes it is lost, but the thread is still there.

You can see how nasty it can get prior to this. GM did a decent job but it wasn't thought through very well.

^^^ Is right tho, don't use RTV, it's messy, falls into the hole, and doesn't raise the spoiler up any.

Go to Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart, anywhere that sells lawn&garden supplies. Buy a 6 pack of the garden hose seals, they are just thick enough to raise the spoiler so water drains under it, it won't collect crap and cause nasty wear under the spoiler, and never leaks.

^ My personal PhotoBucket section where I did the mod, and re did it later again. It is hard to see the chips and cracks, and the early dirty shots don't do it justice. Mine was rather clean, I have seen major rust damage from leaves and dirt under the spoiler for years. Not good. Love your car. Do the mod right.
