Hey guys im new here, and im here because other the websites im on cant answer this question. So here it is...

Can you mount an aftermarket spoiler on a 2003 grand prix GT that needs a flat area to mount it on?

And if so, how do you remove the stock spoiler and put the new one on?

    Thanks you guys

    Matt

you can buy a aftermarket spoiler for the car and put one on yours.

the factory spoiler is held on by 6 bolts under the trunk lid, very simple to remove

What does this spoiler look like that you are trying to mount do you have pics?
Removing the stock spoiler is easy there are 6 10mm bolts inside the trunk.
If you add an aftermarket spoiler you might have to fill in the old holes and make new ones.

You may also have rust under the stock spoiler, so don't be surprised when you take it off and have to do some body work to the trunk lid first. If the spoiler you plan on installing doesn't cover the same area as stock then you may have to paint the whole trunk again.

Well, seeing as how you want that type of spoiler, then I guarantee that you will have to paint your trunk lid when you take the stock spoiler off, as you will have to fill the holes left by the stocker.

You may consider finding a trunk lid in a junkyard somewhere that is the same color as yours and then just remove your entire lid w/ spoiler attached then install jy lid and new spoiler in case you ever want to go back to stock or something close to it like the SLP spoiler.

One note of caution- if you decide to go with this type of spoiler then you may end up w/ dents where you bolt it down to the lid. It may require a brace to be installed on the underside of the trunk lid to help with this. Every car I've seen w/ this spoiler has dents around where the pedestals meet the trunk and it look like junk.

I'll reserve judgement on your spoiler choice at the moment, as it is your car and your money. You don't have to care what anyone thinks about it but YOU. If you like it then go for it.

What is this one called? This is my favorite but I cant ever remember its name.

OP I wonder if the truck would be strong enough for that. insted of spreading out any force on the trunk it would be basically pushing in 4 spots.. just something to think about
