So yesterday i went to use my grand prix. It was the first time it had been started in 2 days. Since it was 98 out, i started it, then turned the a/c on 2 seconds later, then walked away for a minute. When i came back i noticed the a/c was not working. The compressor had not kicked on, and the radiator fans (that always come on with the a/c) also werent on. i drove 1 mile, came home, and checked the fuse under the hood. i pulled it out, it was fine, so i put it back in, and almost immediately the compressor kicked on, then the fans a couple seconds later.

Then i left again. About an hour later my SES light came on with P0113 (IAT circuit high input) being the code present.

any idea what may have been going on?

the code and your a/c are un related, looks like you need a new iat sensor tho. also check the wires on the plug and open harness for cracks or damage.

the a/c sounds like it need to be charged up some, it may be low.

i dont think the a/c is low on refrigerant. ive used it several times this year already, and she always blows amazingly cold. even yesterday when it started working, i put a digital thermometer in the vent, and before too long, it was blowing 39 degrees. with it being almost 100 out. also, the pressures look perfectly fine.

either way the two are unrelated. the code is for a iat sensor not a/c related at all.

unless the iac thinks the air coming in is like 0* or something then wouldn't it stop the ac from working?

well apparently the 2 are related, and, im an idiot. I went to leave today and the exact same thing happened, except this time when i plugged the fuse back in, the compressor didnt kick on. so i glanced over at the iat sensor and realized it was unplugged. i plugged it back in, and the compressor immediately kicked on.

a few days ago i changed my oil. along with that i checked my air filter, and to get it out i completely remove that piece of rubber the IAT sensor is in, to make getting to the filter much easier. i obviously forgot to plug it back in.
after doing some reading, i learned that a/c units use an ambient air temp sensor. some vehicles dont have those and just go off the IAT sensor.
