    Hello,
I have a 2000 Grand Prix GT with a 3800 seris II engine. Last week drove it to work and 6 hours later went to leave and it would not start. Engine will crank but not fire up. Towed it home. Started with the simple things. Spark---yes battery good---yes NO security light on dash---yes Problem....No Fuel !!! When the key is turned the fuel pump refuses to prime. Test the electrical contact at the pump....nothing at all. Went to the fuse...replaced the 15 amp fuse with a new one. Replaced the mirco relay with a new one......same results....no power at the fuel pump.

Read through the web and found a test to see if the pump was bad or not so did it...test listed below :

The all-important Jumper Test. If you do this, and the car runs, then you know that the fuel pump resistor is the culprit. Note: while the jumper is in place, your fuel pump will be running at high speed all the time. This puts great stress on the fuel pump. This is a temporary fix. In the case of this 1998 Grand Prix, the relay needed was #14. In some Grand Prixs, it will be #19. Obviously, if your car does not have a #19 relay, you can count on using the #14 relay. What's important is the number and orientation of the spades on the relay.

If you look closely in the pic to the right, there is a red line connecting 2 out of the (5) slots. Place a small (16 AWG or smaller) short wire between these two slots as shown, and reinsert the relay to pin them down.

Fuel pump turns on and runs but still can not get the car to start. Called the parts store and asked about the fuel pump resistor. They tell me the 2000 grand prix does not have one to replace.

Can anyone tell me if they have had any of this problem and if I am missing something?
    Thanks
