Only one delicate thing stands between you and fixing this, that's the hud trim panel. Because it sits in the sun and it's not the most durable thing to begin with...that's your only hurdle.

A local guy brought his by and told me, "I know that panel is likely breaking, go on and fix it." Yes there was a crack in the hud panel before I started and a second one upon completion, this overall is a super easy fix.

I removed the hud, which has no wiring tricks, it's a simple plug. No craziness....simple and easy to unplug it's connector. Then unscrew or lift it out, remove screws to get into it. From there I drilled a new hole in the thicker part of the plastic, reconnected the spring and tested it out.

If you can get past the trim panel and operate a screwdriver/drill. This will be easy.
