I forgot what they call it... I think a key fob or vob

Anyway that device that will unlock or lock the car. Is there any way to increase the strength? Mine is very weak and I have to press it a bunch of times for it to work. Maby replace the battery?

If so, how do I do it?

Yea, sounds like the battery going dead. Should just be able to pop the back cover off with a small flathead screw driver.

    Couple things you can do:

    1. Place the fob under your chin when you press the button. Sounds stupid. but it works. Try it.

    2. Replace the battery. When the battery gets weak, you will lose strength and range. Replace it. And you should not have to reprogram it afterwards. I never did.

    3. While replacing the battery, make sure the contacts for the buttons are clean. They can get carbon buildup which will make it work not as well. Clean them well, and it should work better.

    4. If all else fails, people have said that extending the antenna on the receiver in the dash has helped. Don't know the specifics, but I know you need to solder a piece of wire on the end of the antenna. Again, not sure how exactly, but might want to look into it.

    Surprisingly it works.

I proved this to my GF. We were walking towards the car, and we stopped. I held the fob up in the air and clicked it a few times. Then held it under my chin and clicked it. First time, nothing. So we took a few steps forward and repeated the process. This time, it worked when held under my chin, but not up in the air. Didn't do any other trys to find out how much range it adds, but it works...

Both of mine work, and work great, but the little plastic loop is broke, is there any cute little way to secure that on a keychain? My wife just puts it in her purse, I hate to carry that and the keys. I looked for old ones, but only find the ones that are complete. I can't find any shells.

Yup, the "under the chin" thing does work. I also would be interested in finding out how to make it work at a further distance. At work I drive a new Tahoe and the key less works I swear from 300 ft away, but I have difficulty making mine work at 10 ft sometimes
