I'm thinking that my catalytic converter is starting to plug up. WOT in first it will just touch 5500k before it shifts. and in second it doesn't even touch 5K. So i'm thinking possible a clogged cat.
could this be causing my 120 mile/tank loss?

your car is showing no other symptoms then this???? there are multiply reasons a car could get bad gas mileage but almost all come with symptoms a driver can either smell or feel. having no syptoms is also a clue but you need to be far more detailed in your post on what exactly is going on if you want us to help. if this is your second thread on this issue post back to the original or copy the original posts syptoms here. your shifting isnt the problem though. your shift is controlled by your computer wich is set up to shift your tranny at different speeds or rpms depending on how hard your pressing the pedal.
put your car on some ramps or up in the air high enough, so you can bang on your cat, when your car is cold of course. if you hear rattling your cat is bad. you can use the palm of your hand to hit the cat.
If you have a theory, you have to test your theory, and you must fisrt have a hypothosis, then thest your hypothosis with an expirement, then draw a conclusion.
In your case you theorise your cat is bad, and you can test this by looking inside. Experiment: drop exhaust after cat and look inside, if cat is bad replace, if cat is good, move to next theory.
Now, if your cas is bad, you have to find out why it went bad. Unless a cat is manufactured defective, the only way for it to malfunction is with somthing wrong upstream in the exhaust.
