I was thinking a large diameter, low-profile fan might help increase airflow at low speeds without being too much of a restriction. Surely the amount of air pulled in would more than make up for the space of the fan?

Keeping the air warm instead of hot really won't make that much of a difference. Now a cowl hood and fan may work to keep the underhood temps down, but seeing as how these motors run hot by design it's really not worth the effort IMHO.
Other than what I'm guessing was a fluke just after installing the HAI, the temp stays at 185 max. I just thought a fan in the fender area might serve to add some of the benefits of a CAI without the full setup, as it would blow directly on my air filter. Just a thought.
