I have a 98 grand prix gtp, one day I realized when i turned the car off and pulled the key out, the radio was still on... so i pulled off my head unit faceplate hoping that would keep the radio off. Got off work, drove it home fine, took the faceplate off when I got home. Next day, went to work, forgot to pull off the faceplate, and got off work, my car was dead, so I had a friend give me a jump, drove it home, then realized the windows were getting power as well... even though the car was off, the windows and stereo were still getting power, but i pulled out my faceplate again, next day went to go to work, car didnt' start so i borrowed my sis' car because i was running late. I was busy for the next few days and didn't have time to deal with jumping it every time, so i let it sit for a few days. then i set it on a charger over night, got to it in the morning.... not sure if the charger was just being silly, or if it was the car, but the car wouldn't start, and the key wouldn't come out of the ignition. Normally when the car off, the steering wheel locks, where you can barely move it, but I can turn it both directions 100% and the key still won't come out.

Any ideas on how to get the key out, what my problem is, how to find out what the problem is if not, or how to fix it?

    Thanks!

#1. the radio and window power won't go out till u open the door or after like 10 min.
#2. there is a manual key release on the bottom side of the steering Coloum. Grab a long skinny screw driver and find a hole about the size of a quater on the bottom of the steering Column. It might or might not have a plastic cover over it. If so remove said cover. Shove screwdriver into hole. Once inside it will depress a release button allowing u to turn the key back to the off spot and remove your key

^^ good suggestion but i'm hoping he knows about the power turning off after 10 minutes and/or opening the door. and if it does like it should, it shouldnt kill his battery but it is dying.

release the key like stated above and see if the issue continues. might be an ignition switch.
