Recently after driving my car for 30+ minutes, when i go to shut the car off and pull the key out, when i try to turn the ignition to off, it doesnt come back all the way to let the key come out of the ignition. was wondering if anyone has had this problem and what they had to do to fix it. my parents' grand prix is having the problem. thanks for the help!

    Moved to the correct section.

I know it is not a security feature, it has something to do locking mechanism on the steering column. I have seen writeups before on this issue. I will try and dig around and see if I can find anything. I know others have experienced this issue as well.

Hopefully someone else will chime in.

I have also heard about this. Some just take the locking mech. all the way off and that solves the problem.

Hello, have the same problem , they told me it was a solinoid in the shifter, quite often.Expensive as you have to buy the whole shifter.I just popped of the dust cap under the steering column and with a small screwdriver push it up and the key comes back to the off position.I hear you can tie strap that tab and no more problems.
