The supercharged motor is still EFI(EFI=Electronic Fuel Injection)
You need to swap the heads and up, look at 500-700 in engine parts, and another 400-800 in bolts and gaskets, and $400-500 for a tuner if you don't have some one to tune it for you.....
Make sure to do a lot of research before attempting this
not worth it!
Oh, its worth it, if you want the supercharger sound and torque.......If all you want is high Hp numbers, go turbo
im sure it would be one heck of a ride if i ever got it back together but i need to drive it to work tomorrow. thanks for the info
Might as well go with a bunch of GT Bolt-Ons IMO...and beat stock GTP's...such as HV3, Stage 2 TB, 180* T-Stat, CAI, DP, U-Bend Del, PEM's/Headers, Rockers, and a PCM
Mid to low 14's right there![]()
Maybe, but rockers, PEM's, HV3, and stage 2 TB is like 2/3 the cost of a full top swap, might as well do the top swap and have a low 14's car........Or turbo if you wanna go real fast...... Like I always say, though it all depends on how much go you want and how dough you got to spend![]()
i did mine in a day by myself. Its not hard at all. I talked to ed morad and he sent me everything i needed. I already had the basic bolt ons though which you need. Also need some tuning. I also put the HD stuff in my GT tranny. Probably spent about $650 on parts.
i only spent 1000 on the car, it immediately needed intake gaskets, came across a supercharger thought id have some fun with it, but it is still just a work car with 157thousand miles. ill just enjoy it for what it is. but i do plan on having another gp after this one goes. they are just a cool looking car that is fun to drive.
thats it im doin it! im keeping my 2000 gp for back and forth, and turnin my 97 into a fire breathing mustang killer! thanks guys ill be back with some updates and im sure more questions soon
It is deff. worth it to do a top swap, to do a top swap you need, L67 Heads, LIM, Blower(obviously), TB, brackets for alt., idler pullies, coils, L67 fuel rails, vac. line re-routing, I think you need wiring(Not 100% sure) for new sensors, re-tuned PCM, L67 fuel injectors, L67 harmonic balancer(crank pulley) colder plugs(104's would be perfect). And all the gaskets(head, valver,SC).
Right there, you're looking at around 600-700 dollars. The stock GT tranny is fine, if you dont beat on the car. The 4t65e is the stock GT tranny, 4t65e-HD is the GTP tranny. The GTP tranny is a heavier duty tranny, hence the HD. In my opinion, its deff. worth doing a top swap.
smoking a mustang and laughing the whole time is more then worth it. mustang guys just yell at you and say "thats a slow grand prix" then the light turns green and they wet there pants. you'll have a blast![]()
ive done it. I have a 2001 Grand PRix GT. look on zzperformance.com and go under engine. there is a complete listing of needed parts. i payed alittle extra and had it installed the right way. this way if there are problems i will be able to have installer fix it. nothing is wrong yet. car runs great. got about 75 whp out of it. makes for a awesome sleeper. get al ot of weird looks from debadge gtp owners and also awesome kill stories with GTP's. I also got the 4t65e shift kit. car shifts much harder and firmer/faster. Lucie776@msn.com if you have any questions.
i am going to swap a gt to gtp have 2 97 the gtp is out of province and won't pass and the gt needs head gaskets. looking for info on what parts must be changed. i am leaning towards a cradle swap but want to know what else has to be changed like the wiring harness. i know the pcm is a must be any info from someone with experience would be greatly apreiciated
thanks
luke
got the engines swapped hoping to finish it up today
12s on street tires in a FWD car is usually pretty fun. youll stomp on a lot of cars, but youll take a digger when you get lined up with something beefier (terminator, lsx, etc.).
im getting there on a rocker setup. im liking it so far. just finished my alky setup tonight. im pumped.
finished everything up found out i did not need to change the dic for boost gauge and the only change i needed for performance shift was the shift knob
it was very easy to do but then again i had to 97s and they were complete
