    I wish i just made one thread with all my issues. Anyhow, So I was having electrical issues and my car wasn't starting right (2001 GTP) I changed the ignition switch and all is well as far as the electrical issues. I dont know why I thought it would fix my starting problems because it didnt.
    So symptoms are; Car makes loud grinding sound when trying to start, and sometimes takes 20-30 secs to start. I read that the sound that im getting is likely the starter and flywheel not aligning up right. It sounds right but i would like to see what you guys think or what i should check/test.

    Car history from the day I bought it: Day one trouble starting a few times, very minor took maybe 2-3 secs to start with grinding sound. Day two Still starting issues also Heater went out (worked on 5), Dic started flickering funny relay sounds from dash whaen heated seat was on. Day 3 Heater out and if it was turned on headlights went out, Dic stayed for the most part off and i just didnt use the heated seat so the relays stopped clicking. As time has passed (only 2-3 weeks) the starting issue has gotten really bad.
    Could all of this be related or seperate?

    I just went out to start it again and it started fine 3 times in a row. Right after i Changed the ignition switch i tried to start it and it took forever. I let it sit for about 2 hours and 3 times no problems? Im at a loss, is it fixed now or just acting right for awhile. Im starting to think i have a bad ground somewhere.

    I know this is a boring thread guys but I want to get this car acting appropriate so I can start modding, please help me out.
    So I'm really starting to think I have a bad ground or loose connection somewhere. The car 20% of the time starts fine, the other 80 it takes awhile. When i have starting issues I turn the key to the on position and it seems like the car isn't getting full power (lights are dim, control panels dim, if I lock the doors from the key fob the horn will barely honk like not enough power honk) but when I put the key to the on position and everything lights up right and the car will do the full honk upon locking with the key fob it starts perfect. No awful noises no 5 second starts.
    I checked the battery with a multi meter and from the top posts I get a 12.0 readout. On the side posts that bolt in a got like a 1.0 or something rediculous like that. I made sure that the bolts are tight and they are.
    Sounds like a bad connection right? Wht are some things I should check? Is the bolt in post bad?
    Sorry for structure I'm typing from my phone.

    You are doing pretty good for being on a phone.

    Ok, that 1 volt is a poor connection from meter to bolt. Pull the battery cable bolts out , then lift off the boots and take a look at the cables/clean them etc. Reconnect. Volts don't make a car start, amps do. Therefore you might be reading decent volts and have no amps to back it up.

    From an engine persepctive..think of it like this?
    Volts = horsepower
    Amps = torque

    Without torque..your just a honda that can't get out of it's own way quick enough.

    Take a look at the battery, are the sides puffing out and bowing? This is a sign of a battery that could be on it's way out. The heat over time makes them bow.
    I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
