Hey I got a 2005 Comp G GTP with 70,500 miles on it, just recently the car started to get just under overheating on the gauge and the heater wont blow hot. Thought it may be a thermostat so changed that and it didn't help the temp gauge then just started moving and would still get just under overheating with no hot heat. So I took the car to my mechanic and he found that the water pump was bad so changed that. Still did not fix the issue. So then took the engine apart assuming maybe a bad head gasket or bad head. Had the heads sent into a auto shot and the heads are in perfect condition and didn't even need cleaned up. Really puzzled with what this problem could be were putting the engine back together tomorrow with new head gaskets.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know!! Thanks

    Fans not turning on?
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

It sounds like a partly or in this case mostly clogged coolant passage. I would flush the radiator and motor to see if you can break thru anything that might be blocking coolant flow.
    I start $hit like it's got3800

Sounds like there was air in the system.

You definitely should of tried bleeding your system before tearing down the engine. Always start with the simple things first. My guess is you had air in your cooling system or a blocked coolant passage. Start by trying to bleed the air out of the system. If that doesn't help, try doing a coolant flush. Let us know the results.

I already recommended a flush in your intro thread. Still don't know why you pulled the heads.
