Turbo is cheaper, but he went for a supercharged setup and the "Different" factor

Turbo kits are still pricier than this imho.

i know that turbo cars arent the most reliable cars out there, so this setup still being s/c is probably more reliable.

Whoever made you the custom parts willing to make more? Just curious. Btw some people, like myself prefer not to go turbo. I say this due to all the ”hot snail” comments.

What AFR were you gunning for on ethanol, what boost did you see with the 2.8" on the 1320, what were the temps. at the time of the dyno and how did you get E60, that's a crappy station! I'd check again in summer to see if they are really putting 85% in there, but with E70 it's around 104-105 so you are about right for octane, but the high octane level isn't the only benefit to ethanol.
All you need to know is posted in the very first post. In addition to that, I was seeing 11-12psi on the 2.8 with the open down pipe. More like 15psi on the street through the stock catback. The temps/time and other weather info are in the picture I posted in response to pure2sin's ridiculousness, it was like 60 degrees. The e60 comes from the only gas station in Connecticut that sells "e85". Everyone said to test the fuel to verify ethanol content and when I did I was pretty disappointed. There's definitely a lot more to be had from some proper summer blend e85.

I posted the cost breakdown like 4 posts above, but here it is again so that everyone is clear.

    SLoW SHO

So far the budget isn't working out too bad...

    TVS with 3 pulleys $1200
    Adapter plate $300
    M62 for mockup $80
    Alt Relocation $60

Sold my GenV and pulleys/MPS for $700

So far this has cost me $940. I'm pretty confident that I wont need a whole lot more as there isn't much left to do.

This... You're not going to make more power on a turbo setup unless its well built with a good IC. That's gonna cost ya. DH will be in here in a minute to tell you he runs 30psi through the stock engine and makes 600whp, but in reality most turbo setups will see under 350whp.

Yeah he's willing to make more. We still have to verify whether or not the plate works with currently available IC cores.

Hahaha! Yeah they've been scarce the past few months... When I was getting mine they were EVERYWHERE.
In the end, the TVS swap is about equal in terms of power gained to that of a full size intercooler AND ported heads, if you already have a GenV
Not to mention all the other cool stuff that comes along with owning a TVS.

You guys can all argue about what the costs of all that stuff is... but in my opinion, given the all the evidence, the TVS makes those mods obsolete if you're aiming for 330-400whp.

I think after I get my transmission issues all squared away I'm just going to go with some custom heads and be done with it.

As I've said earlier in this thread, taking a plate already in existence and removing the top half and having a piece machined to adapt to the blower might cost less than a completely custom intercooler.

The more that i think about this the more legit it seems. one question ive come across: Eaton recommends this supercharger for 3.0-4.5L engines. Why are they putting them on 2.0L cobalts and making them work? does that mean we could/should use the R1900/R2300 (4.0-8.0 L)?

It does say the 1320 is recommended for up to ~500 hp, but still.

thats why zoom said they're pointless on 2 litres unless you're running E85.

you can run an R1900 but you're going to want stage 3+ heads and a comparably aggressive cam.

So its probably better to compare the superchargers based on airflow, makes sense. is the 1650 out yet? im looking at an old ppt that says its in development.

    It'll probably never come out.

On the topic of the R1900, you'd spend $2200 on the blower from magnuson, then you need the adapter plate and an inlet piece to adapt to the TB.

You're better off getting an R1320.

I might no some one that can come up with an Intercooler!!!

This may be dumb but is this a direct swap for the older 3800's with the M62's.

    Not a totally necessary response.

    Anything DH says isn't necessary.
On a side note, an intercooler isn't as easy as it may seem.
