I have the same problem as a member just below me but can't seem to figure out the issue...I had 8000k xentec hid's with 35 watt ballasts and one of them went out so for the time being i put my stock bulbs back in but then when i replaced the ballast i couldnt get either one of my hid's to work. I figured the bulbs must be the issue so i bought new bulbs and they still wouldnt turn on. ive tried 4 different bulbs and 4 different ballasts to no avail. When i plug the stock harness back into the normal light bulbs they work just fine and i cant figure out the problem. any thoughts?

I would suggest a HID relay harness, that may fix the problem, or damage may have already been done to your stock wiring. Not sure exactly, but get a relay harness and try it, they are about $12.

Switch the plug around back and forth on the ballast...there is only one correct way to have it plugged it...one way it'll work...the other way won't.

    Try that.

I've done that before since there is no marking on the correct direction.

i thought the same thing but nothing happened...and as for the relay harness i see this as a possibility but why would they be working before and then suddenly nothing works. the stock wiring works in the normal bulbs which leads me to believe the stock wiring is fine

yank off those little rubber protectors...I've also had connection issues because they are too bulky...maybe pictures of how you have it all plugged in?

even with the rubber boot things on there the stock wiring harness clicks right in but before i think i had to bend one of the little prongs inside the ballast itself to make the harness connect? im not really sure what is going on hid's are a very simple concept that ive installed in a few different vehicles and never had this issue before

Ok well you have to do some electrical diagnostics.

Did you use stock wires or add the harness and relay? That's the best way to do it IMHO but to each his own. Even if you didn't at first, I would do it now. But check your grounds too, remove them, look under the point where's it is on melt and make sure It's got good contact, if you used the harness and relay, make sure the relay is pulling when you turn lights on. Lastly, if you used stock wiring, test the voltage you're getting where you connect the ballast, they do have operate tolerances and if the wiring is damaged, pinched or whatever, maybe you're not getting proper voltage at connection point. Stock bulbs will tolerate that, but not the ballasts...

Just a few thoughts that might help.
