I need some help I just installed the drain tray so my floorboard dont get wet now the wippers shut off in the up position. If I take the wippers back off and cycle the key a few times with the wipers on they go to there normal down position. I put the wipers back on when it is in the down position turn them back on and they shut off in the up position. Wife needs the car by 1:45 today so I need help asap (p.s. The wipers had no problems prior to me putting the drain tray in so I wouldnt think it would be that metal tab)

Ok Update I tore the hole dam thing apart for a 2nd time. I am 1900000% positive it is not the little tab. If I even hint as to put the wipers back on it sticks in the up position. I mean I dont even have to bolt the wipers back on if i just lay them on the posts they stick in the up position. Take them off works fine no problems. The little metal peace that hooks that tab wont hook if the wipers are on it but as soon as I move them boom. Just seems like this car hates my guts. Every time I fix something it makes it a Pain in my @$$ b/c something messes up on me.

Did you take the wipers off to put that drain tray in? If so, I don't think it was necessary and you may have given that tab a little touch when doing so... Since it's not catching the tab when you have the arms on.. maybe it's just a little out of whack and needs a little bend
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Sure did take em off but I have the 1 peace insted of the 2 peace so I had to take the wiper arms off so I could trim the plastic that has to go by by. Plus I had to bring it inside to warm up so it would not shatter into a million peaces since it is like 14 years old and like 20 degrees outside. But I can cycle the wipers as many times as I want and every time they lock in the down position. As soon as the wipers get close up they go and stay up.

Ahhh...then I suspect the tab. If not..it's the motor/module on the bottom of the motor assembly.

My passenger side wiper would freeze up in the up position, turned out the little nut that attaches the wiper arm to the arm on the motor was slightly loose.
    Goodluck.

Even had my dad helping me and he cant figure it out lol. If I only put the pass side wiper on it works for about 5 trys then it messes up. If I put them both on nada. If both are off it works just fine. Friggin stupid. Wish I didnt have to use them in the morning to clear the frost. This is going to suck with a capital S The wife dont have to worry she gets off at 11 tonight so no frost on the window for her but when I take it to work I work till 7:30am so plenty o frost for me. Anyone want to blow up a 97 gp ???? Half tempted to rig up some moltolv cocktails for it.
