Well, I bought my car with a lot of the mods I wanted so no...

I will say the suspension/tranny is what ate up all the money. I did just buy some roller rockers, probably getting a wideband and replacing struts/brakes in the spring...Other than that, some paint correction and tires and oil will hopefully be all she needs.

Pending a good job soon, I'll be saving up for something different. Right now though, this car is still awesome IMO

lol, thats how i was partially. mine needed a lil work done when bought it and i guess that's where "project grand prix" started. and these forums didnt make it better, cuz i kept lookin and saying "ooh, i need that" lol

Ok well if we are talking GP....my GTP never ran. bought it and then parted it out as it had a blown motor. #4 was all over the oil pan

my first and current obsession is my Z34. when i bought it back in 2001 while in school i didnt think i would do anything to it. then my stereo kept locking... so instead of paying the dealer to unlock it i dropped in a JVC that i still have. there were two triggers for me to begin my modding. the first was brakes. in the 1st year i spent $1500 on brakes at a shop. at that point i made the decision to either learn to do the work myself or sell the car.

the next i guess is just time. i have had the car for 10 years. i have done a mix of upgrade when broke and "I want that!!!" I never dreamed it would come this far. i would be bored in class and jot down a dream wish list for my car if money and time werent a factor. then years later i would find it and discover hey! i have done this entire list... and then make a new one.

the dream list had stuff like:
-port bore and polish the entire DOHC top end. did that Maf to heads
-Trany gear swap. 2 rebuilds and the last with higher stall converter shift kit 3.73 gears
-exhaust custom 2.5" from the DP back
    - i was one of the first to build a FWI on a 5th gen monte without relocating the battery
    -wheels, spoiler, suspension
    -then TUNING..... then Wideband....

Now its got the engine swapped to a 3800 this was a far out dream but it is RUNNING

the topswap just needs to go on.

i'll just go and post my dream list of things i dont think i will do but will like to:
-TEP trany with all the goodies
    -cam
    -IC
    -aluminum heads
    -twin charge

Im gonna say compared to when i bought it day one, I have taken it further but for the good. For the first year i had this i didnt wanna really put too much mods into it. I started off with a KN drop in filter and magnaflow cat.Got bored quick. Then i found this forum and here i am. $800 worth of mods later and much better car ill say. I still wanna take it further near future plans include cam, custom tune and a few lil things. Keep it N/A for a lil bit then top swap once i have the time and money.
04 GTP-3.6 pulley, custom tuned, Intake, headers, thrush exhaust, al104 plugs, 180* stat, shift kit, flipped mounts

Lol, yeah I've found after MANY cars and tens of thousands of $'s later, its the best, smartest, and most effective way to conserve the time and money........IF you have the will power to not impulse buy mods and upgrades.......which I think alot of ppl don't have! Lol

I just bought my 99 GTP really for the wife. I found the forum and it has help me a great deal. The car runs like a champ now. I was hoping the wife would get in it and say I don't like this car as I promised her if she didn't like it I would get her something else. The plan was for her not to like it and then I would mod it. Guess that plan went out the window as she loves the car and now I am not even allowed to move the seat to drive it. It is all hers and I will just do what needs to be done and keep it a reliable clean daily driver for her.

Buy another as a toy, so you have one as a test/parts car?
    They're dirt cheap.

when i first joined this forum and went through some threads i had lots of dreams and idea's for the car but never thought i'd get there. feb will be my 3rd year with this car and i can't believe how much money i've pumped into it.

so to the OP yea i had dreams, now it's reality and an expensive hobby. but now i actually budget and plan my next mod, just have no idea when it'll actually stop.

I only have an open cone and some exhaust. I did do some painting on the interior pieces but my mod list will be broken out after college is out, though some will be accomplished during the summer.
