'99 GTP coupe. Car runs fine at all times.

Here are the issues I have heard in the last couple days.

    1. Son mentions that he backed up then went to put it in drive but it acted like it was still in neutral. He put it in park then back to drive and it was fine.

    2. daughter says that the last couple days the low coolant light has been going and off. Also, the ABS light will do the same.

    3. all information on the DIC goes to zeros from time to time.

Seems like all electrical gremlins and somehow connected. From what I have read it seems like it could be the ignition switch?

Hmm, doesn't sound much like the ignition switch to me. I would rather think you have a bad ground or loose battery cables to me. I would check those things out first.

If your DIC was going completely black while driving, that would be a more sure sign of the ignition switch. To me it sounds like your BCM is getting a low voltage, possibly because of a bad connection somewhere.

    A little more information

    1. The performance shift button does not seem to work
    2. the ABS light is on constantly
    3. TCS light is on constantly
    4. Car runs fine. checked with my scanner and there are no codes set.
    5. DIC flashes "0" the entire time.
    6. everything else seems to be working correctly - radio, HVAC.
    7. The HUD is bright when it's on but will just go out. then come back on when it wants to.

When you turn the key forward but do not start it the Dic shows all info correctly. you can step through the info and everything is there. Once you start the car the DIC comes on and reads correctly for approx. 5-7 seconds then goes to the flashing "0". It's always the exact same mount of time after you start the car that it goes to "0" so it doesn't seem to be happening intermitently.

If you never start the car but leave the key forward the DIC will read correctly for as long as you leave it in that condition.

any help you can give me I would sure appreciate it. It seems like the DIC works properly and has the correct info when it's working. The ABS doesn't seem to be setting any code just has the light on. The tcs I can't tell if it is working or not.

Last but not least. it just seems a little harsh when you go from park to "R" or to "D". Not real bad but a bit harsh.

so I have been having a similar issue with the dic and radio dimming and today my gtp started ticking like a clock... sounds like its coming from the center of the dash, does not change with acceleration, a/c, turn signal, hazards or anything else. ticking still occurs when i have the key in the first position and when the car is running. any ideas?

Could be the BCM. If you look at the schematics the BCM is IO for all of this stuff including the dimming of lights and others.
I've red that the ignition switch can cause similar symptoms like the fan motor only running on high.

My issue turned out to be the EBCM (electronic brake control module). I bought a used one and went to change it so I unplugged the one that was in the car. I unplugged it and plugged it back in twice. Then I decided not to do that job right then because I had some other things that I wanted to fix first and I did not want anything to get confused.

To my amazement, the DIC and everything else started working correctly. Have not had the issue since.

Bottom line is that the EBCM seemed to be the issue with the DIC, the ABS light and the TCS. Some people replace them, some people rebuild them.

The HUD is a different issue and not one that I am really that concerned about. I just like it and I don't like when things don't work. So I will some day tear into that when I don't have anything else to do - which basically means - never... HAHAHAHA. Oh boy....
