Hey everybody, my headlight switch seems to be acting up. It has been doing this for about a year now, but it appears to be getting worse.
When I get into my car on a hot day and its warm inside the car, my car makes the chiming noise as if I left the lights on (even though they are not). If I just wiggle the headlight switch lightly the noise goes away.
Recently I've noticed that when I'm driving down the road and hit a bump, sometimes the headlights and interior dash lights will go out. If I wiggle the headlight switch they go back on again.
Today I got in my car and turned the lights on and assumed they were on. Dash lights came on etc. Only to notice when I stopped at a gas station that only my foglights were on and no headlights. When I got in my car I turn the headlight switch off, then on again and everything was working normal.
It obviously sounds like the switch is bad but is there anything else that could be causing this?
Should I try to take apart the HL switch and see if it just has dirty contact and can be fixed?
A new one is like $180 dollars from parts stores and about $70 from rock auto.
I REALLY don't wanna spend another 70 bucks if I don't have too...
Any thoughts ???
thanks
