Hello, I have a 2001 Grand Prix GT. This is my daily driver and my current mods are only a K&N CAI, zzp down pipe with u-bend delete, and a zzp PCM. I can get a turbo its self for a low price. I am wondering what size turbo would be a good fit for my car? I am also wondering what else i need or need to do to the car? I'm looking for big power gains but I don't need to run 12lbs of boost, 5-6 is plenty for me. I'm trying to get an intercooler for it too. I have been trying to do research on it but i cant find much. Thanks for the help

You cant just buy a turbo and put it on. You need a turbo kit.

You arent going to piece one together unless you buy turbo pipes from someone like ZZperformance or Cartuning.

With what you want to do it doesnt really matter. You could probably run just about any turbo.

But is there a big difference from a big turbo vs a small one? Or a is it just the bigger u go the more boost you can get from it?

if you only want 5-6 psi, get a smaller turbo, it will build boost faster compared to a large turbo. and from what i hear, get rid of the zzp pcm, there dangerous.

You shouldn't always listen to what people have to say sometimes.

Really? Hopefully he will post exactly what was in the tune specifically that caused it to be so bad. I have yet to see this posted. All I hear is ZZP PCM is bad your going to blow your **** up! Yet no one can give specifics as to why. Ironic don't you think?

OP you will also need larger injectors and have the computer retuned. If you are supercharged you will need a block off plate. Any other questions just ask.

Ive heard stock injectors are ok if you aren't running a lot of boost? and i am not supercharged. i figured i would have to retune the pcm. And i know they can be expensive, thats why im trying to piece together one to help bring down the cost. is the intercooler a good route to go with the turbo?

im just telling him what i heard about the pcms. i honestly have no expericance with them, but the short time ive been here, ive heard a ton of bad things. so maybe we should start a "zzp pcm pro and con" thread and see what happens.

Absolutely! Turbos generate tons of heat and blow that heat right into your engine. Think of it like a big blow dryer. You need something to help combat that heat and make the air cooler. Otherwise you will have to run less boost and less timing. Which we know frees up less hp.

Just a suggestion, if you only want 5-6 psi of boost, wouldn't it be more economical to top swap?
