Somebody please tell whats wrong with my 2001 GTP i live in Northern Utah and travel down to RMR maybe once a month. I just did a bunch of work this spring and my car runs like crap down the track but awesome up here. my mods include block bored .20 over, XP cam, balancer shaft removed, OE-R 875 lifters, #105 springs and retainers, powerlog headers, ported SC and ported lower intake. ported TB. and a some what cold air intake (warm air intake) it doesnt go down the fender like it should. and 3.2 pulley. And a tune on the PCM. the problem im having is i cant break 15.0 seconds to save my life, its driving me crazy everyone i talk to say i should be in the low 14.0 high 13.0. Please dont quote me on that the first of the season i had bald radial tires and a 3.4 pulley and i ran 14.8 all day. Thank you for all your opinions you might have for me.

    title fixed up.

What type of altitude changes are you working with? Air density, altitude etc can play a bigggggg factor in tune.

I think West Valley, UT is like 4200 and up in Logan im maybe only 4300 or 4400 tops we are in a valley so smog gets trapped up here as much as Salt Lake. i tried the driver mods and that didnt work.

Not sure on the timing you guys can chew me out but its a ZZ Performance tuned pcm, no KR, AFR is normal unless im cruising at 65 mph for awhile then it goes alittle to the rich side.

You have a few more mods than what a zzp 1.0 pcm or any mail order tune is designed for. You need to find a local, scan and re-tune.

If you can find a spare PCM, Tengis may tune it for you remotely as well.

Sweet thank you anybody know where i can get it re-tuned in Utah? What does a tune run price wise? Yeah when i got the cam from ZZP i sent in my PCM to have it programmed for the cam but i thought it was kindof odd they didnt ask questions like what altitude im in, and what other mods do i have and so on.

Well, scan your commanded timing, and tell us AFR... we cant suggest anything without this information..

If your maf is reading the same amount of air while giving you a good airfuel ratio output... and you make the same timing... there is nothing wrong with your tune.

Too many people are on the "you have to get it tuned" bandwagon on this forum... and as a tuner of almost 7 years now, I can say that mailorder tunes are much better than people think they are (hell factory stock tunes are pretty awesome on most things as well).

Ported tb, xp cam, 3.2 pulley on a mail order tune in his location?

If he can't scan it now, why go through the trouble of him buying a scanner just to come back and say "yeah, you need a better tune." When the solution could be to get it somewhere where he can do both at the same time? Aeroforces are great scanners, but after a tune, it's hard for some people to relay that information back to here when it's in real time.

The flip side, you don't know what exactly zzp did to that tune and it may need to be changed back to stock or lower.

I see and agree with your logic partly, but in most situations members cannot relay this kind of information very easily, that's why it's just common to say get a custom tune.

Ported TB's are a pain in my ass.. but for the most part just because it has a cam, it does not need any special attention... The maf sensor could care less what cam is behind it... its still going to read the amount of air coming in.
