I don't think the electronic limiter is the issue. Horsepower to wind resistance on the other hand...

I got my 1995 Grand Am up to 115 a couple years ago. Kinda silly how my Prix shuts down at 109 I think, but I understand the legal issues with the tire ratings.

these cars reach the governed speed easily, my guess is they can go another 25mph before the rpm limiter is reached (6K rpm)

Well guys,, if your GP shuts you down at 108mph then...you be NA. You probably shouldn't keep the rpm up that high for that long. Even you NA guys can blow motors.

    All Regals came 108mph.
SC'd Bonne, and GP's are 128mph (well..if your tires were rated at 130mph)
Most NA cars were set to 108mph.
I'm not sure about the pa and riv. Figure that since the GS got shafted, maybe they did too.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Damn, I just saw this on TV about a week ago. They didn't even use the same model of car when doing the original test. Me and my friend still think the tire and guardrail played a major factor. If they really were trying to do a solid test, they would use something with the same amount of cushion as grass and then have the solid drain. Instead, they just used some ramps.

Your mistaken friend. That was a young kid running and the cam was a cop that happened to be in the right area. He walked away but yea... no ramp, he hit the police turn around thats gravel and ramped off of it and hit the center support. Car split into three pieces and he was lucky to survive. Just fitting given the conversation.

Thats unfortunate... I hit 88mph, went back in time, did it again, then blew up

There's isn't a turn around there, there's a guardrail, grass and a storm drain. The ramp was in the re-enactment test the the crash investigator was trying to perform. The first test it looked like a BMW they were using instead. The front is shaped completely different from a Trans Am. Yeah, that guy was definitely lucky.
