My Uncle is searching for the right engine for me at the moment, and will install it for me at his garage. I am not sure of the cost but I think I will be going up there to help with the install, to learn more about the car and so on.

Get an entire L26 foo...they'll make more power and have a better UIM setup than your junky plastic L36 UIM.
Same thing happened to me my gtx had 125k when it gave it gave out except my car wouldn't even idle for more than 30 sec without shutting off my advice to you is go to a junkyard and find a motor mine was only 400 with 77k out of an 03 gtp, don't do a rebuild
most junk yards have the engines pulled already, they were ran before they pull the engine, if it didnt run good they would not re sell it. most yards have the engines all lined up indoors with a tag having all the info for that engine, miles, year, car it came out of and so on. plus they will give you at least a 30 day warranty. they dont want to sell you bad parts/engines, and will back up the parts in the long run, they dont want a bad rep.
ive used a few junk yard motors for cars ive had in the past, and they always run. it may need a tune up and all the regular maintenance stuff done to it, but that should be done anyways.
dont buy from a pull and pray, thats one way to waste your time on a used engine. buy one thats already out of the car, its been tested.
Scotty doggs ^^ had a perfect explanation mine came with a 60 day warranty I did the tune up and hasn't given me any problems since march man,
Now you could even think about putting a 3.8 s/c under the hood
Sucks to hear about the engine.. Im in Royal Oak dude.. If you need some help.. Wouldnt be the first one Ive yanked and replaced..
