I was talking to one of my buddy's the other day and he had a 05 Monte Carlo SS supercharged and he told me about the after market PCM's you can get or them. He told me i should get on for my stock 02 GPgt. He told me to go to ZZP.com or what ever that site is. I was just wondering would it make a big difference to where I would actually feel the difference and worth spending the money.

I have a ZZP PCM and I didnt notice any power gains but my shift points improved A LOT and I no longer have a speed limiter. Overall I think it was a good buy for $90. Installation was easy as well.

If you going to buy a PCM do NOT buy a ZZP PCM. You'll be playing a game of hit or miss with them if you do. There have been numerous complaints by a large number of people on the PCM's ZZP tunes and sells. Some people have even had cases were ZZP did'nt even tune for, or delete everything that they had asked and payed for them to do. Not to mention the people which had shifting problems and the other people who's car wouldn't even start once they installed it.

I agree with Street Wolf here. I have heard waaay too many people that had problems with ZZP PCMs. Personally, if I had to choose, I would buy an Overkill PCM. But they are expensive.

Of the cheaper ones, DHP has a good proven track record.

Like I said I dont have any complaints w/ my ZZP PCM but I dont have anything to compare it to. Also I hear a lot of people talk about Overkill PCM's on this forum and on another forum Intense PCM's.

It goes back to the old saying, you get what you pay for. For me, I'd rather pay the extra money and have something that is good rather than try and save a few dollars and get something that might not be up to par. My car is to much of a investment to be throwing any ol' part on it. Just my thoughts on the topic.

I'm glad that you said something here about ZZP's....because I was gonna keep my mouth shut. I can't say enough about all the bad crap that I've seen associated with those things.

Yeah, once I saw a ZZP PCM mentioned on here I had to say something, and unlike what most people assume. I don't have a problem with ZZP itself. I just have a problem with horrible merchandise.

You all make me want to get a new PCM. I feel as though my ZZP may be inadequate.

I heard it takes a long time to receive your PCM from Overkill once its ordered. Can anyone verify this? If there is a wait, I'm sure its worth it though.

Will's a busy guy I know, but I can't speak for how long it takes to get one. I think for him being up in Canada it doesn't take THAT long to get one. Probably a week?

But keep in mind, they are Taylor made, not something that someone just throws a bunch of stuff in and hopes that it works.

As for the ZZP issue. I have read accounts and helped out a lot of people on the other forum. Too many to count ran into problems with the trans, DIC, timing, DTC, etc soon after installing a ZZP PCM. Most of them, the issues went away when they went back to a stock PCM, or got a new one from ZZP. Again, can't say 100% for sure that ZZP PCMs are bad, but I know I wouldn't use them.

The only problem I had with my ZZP PCM was that its settings are harsh for 04+ transmissions. I took it back out and its sitting in a box. Someday I'll hook it up, pull the ZZP file to look at and see what they do to it, and keep the PCM around as a spare.
