Ok so I picked up a nice gen v at the local yard for cheap and was wondering if there would be any gain in me doing a self port nod. Mainly just open up the inlet and clean up the outlet port. Like taking out the h bar for future ic'ing. I know the gen v is already better to begin with than a ported gen 3. What and how much should I port ?

    Nope...don't port it.

If anything just smooth out the inlet and polish both the inlet and outlet...but in its factory form it'll outflow any fully done GenIII hands down.

Gonna get technical on ya Nick. Won't technically outflow because they both move 90 cuibic inches of air per revolution. But yeah.. Gen V is that much better and cooler of a charge that you'll be happy no matter. plus the interior design doesn't really lend itself to you doing much.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

What about welding the silencer ports shut, and taking out the h bar for an ic.

"H" Bar removal...sure...if you plan on intercooling. If not, then don't worry about it...it won't yield any gains either way.

As for filling the silencer ports...I'd do it if you want metal in your engine when they break loose. I don't recommend it at all.
